Scalloped Potatoes (au Gratin) so I can do it again :

Oven to 400 (385 on my over-hot oven)

Slice :
ham in bite size pieces, about 1/2 cup
4 cloves of garlic into small dice
1/2 yellow onion (no dice)
4-6 yukon gold potatos in thin rounds (about 0.5 cm)

Boil 1 cup of cream in microwave, 2-3 minutes

Begin layering : potatos, ham, onion, garlic,
salt & pepper on each layer, a little swiss cheese
Build up all the layers
pour cream on top, should come about half way up the potatoes
top with more swiss (not to cover) + parmesan & grated nutmeg

Bake 40-45 minutes

Top should be brown all over and potatoes should be soft
If potatoes are soft & top is not brown, broil a bit
If top is brown and potatoes are not soft, cover in foil & cook more

Nom! It should be really sweet from the caramel of the onion and garlic, it should be nutty and smokey from the ham and cheese. Seattle is going to make me fat.
